It’s completely normal to feel like you should be able to manage things on your own—and in many cases, you probably do. But therapy isn’t about weakness or inability. It’s about giving yourself the space, tools, and support to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, intention, and emotional strength.
Even high performers—athletes, leaders, professionals—benefit from having a trusted, confidential space to process what they’re carrying. Therapy helps you work through patterns that may be holding you back, develop more effective coping strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you’re feeling stuck, stressed, emotionally overwhelmed, or simply want to grow—therapy can help you move forward with purpose and support.
Medication and psychotherapy serve different purposes, and sometimes they work best together.
-
Medication can help reduce symptoms like anxiety, depression, or sleep issues—especially when those symptoms are interfering with daily life or performance. It's often prescribed by a psychiatrist or medical provider.
-
Psychotherapy (talk therapy) helps you address the root causes of distress, develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen your mindset over time. It focuses on long-term growth and insight, not just symptom relief.
While we don’t prescribe medication, we can work collaboratively with your healthcare provider if a combined approach is recommended. Many clients benefit from therapy alone—especially when they want a proactive, skills-based approach to improving mental health and performance.
-

Currently, we only accept clients who have OPTUM insurance and for South Carolina residents only. To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Some helpful questions you can ask them:
-
What are my mental health benefits?
-
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
-
How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
-
How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
-
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Otherwise, we are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance companies directly. However, many clients with PPO or POS plans are eligible for reimbursement for therapy services.
If you're seeking therapy and would like to use your insurance:
-
We can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company.
-
It's a good idea to contact your provider and ask:
-
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
-
What is my reimbursement rate for individual psychotherapy (CPT code 90837 or 90834)?
-
Do I need pre-authorization or a diagnosis to qualify?
Coaching and consulting services are not covered by insurance but may be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement depending on your plan.
We're happy to walk you through the process or provide the documentation you need to submit claims with confidence.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Therapy services are fully confidential and protected under HIPAA regulations. Coaching and consulting sessions are not bound by HIPAA, but we uphold the highest standards of privacy and professional discretion across all services.
Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist's office. Every therapist should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent”. Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team (your Physician, Attorney), but by law your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission.
However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:
-
Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
-
If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
